In honor of National Intern Day (July 26th), we're celebrating our 2018 summer intern Connor Reardon. Connor is a rising junior majoring in Finance at Wake Forrest University. We caught up with Connor for a quick Q&A about his experience at The Black Dog, and where you can find him when he's not playing the "ultimate intern" role.
Why did you pick Finance as your major?
In high school I took interest to my economics and math classes which lent itself to my interest in markets. In college I explored business classes and I enjoy them thus far, so I decided to pick up a major in the business school. It also doesn't hurt that my parents were in financial services.
What do you like best about interning at The Black Dog?
The past three summers I have worked different roles at The Black Dog and I would say it is the company culture keeps me returning. I am most enjoying this opportunity to see and work with all pieces of the company internally to get the most holistic understanding of how a company operates. I've had experience in analyzing food service and retail with tools that I imagine will be applicable to my future career. Also, the fun and friendly people I work with everyday welcome my feedback and assistance with all areas of operation whether its design, marketing, or even just sharing my new ideas.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Ideally, I'm spending a sunny day boating and beaching on and around the Vineyard sound. Otherwise, I love to stay active whether that's going to the gym, biking, playing lacrosse, paddle boarding, or taking my sunfish out.
