SMALL BATCH | AGED IN BOURBON CASKS | BLENDED AND BOTTLED IN MASSACHUSETTS
Over the years, sailors, schooners and rum have gone together like wind and water. Sailing ships supplied Caribbean molasses to the many rum distilleries of the Massachusetts Colony. During the days of Prohibition, schooners served rum smugglers well. This tradition of schooners and rum is carried on by The Black Dog’s founder, Captain Robert S. Douglas. His passion for the sea and sailing ships date to his youth on Martha’s Vineyard. In 1964 he designed and built the extreme topsail schooner, Shenandoah. She has sailed New England waters, and was joined by the Alabama, in 1998. Her keel was laid in 1926, and she is a living piece of American marine history.
Captain Bob brings the same passion to The Black Dog Rum. Our master rum blender sources premium aged rums, then blends and bottles them in small batches in Massachusetts.
